If half of the country is under snow, it is the other half. Here the weather has been exceedingly weird (because seeing icicles form in REAL TIME is weird for here, we live by a power station) but weirder still was the kind of ice/fog/rain thing that I drove home from work in today. Never seen a sky like it,but sadly they frown at stopping a car on a 50mph road just to take a picture.

In other news I have been spending money, chiefly on textbooks but also on Shiny Things too. I have bought three new books:

* Imperial Leather by Anne McClintock
* Spaces of Identity by David Morley and Kevin Robins
* Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel.

For my course, as the require an academic book review and so I have bought three from the list which seemed most likely for me to have actual ideas about, although also cost was an issue. There was another title that sounded as if it might had potential but the cheapest I could get a used copy for was over sixty pounds so that's that. It didn't sound Sixty Pounds Worth of interesting. It didn't even have queers in the title! ;)

Anyway to bulk up one of the orders I also indulged in a spot of personal consumption:

* X-Men: First Class (WOOOOH) on DVD
* The Complete series of BBC Sherlock 1 & 2. Mostly I wanted 2. I still hate 1.3 quite a bit and 2 has both George the Werewolf in an Ironic Role and MYCROFT IN SHIRT SLEEVES AND ALSO WAISTCOATS.

I still can't work out if I fancy Mycroft or just want to be him and have his waistcoats. Possibly a little of both.

Anyway I finished week 1 course readings and really need to get to grips with week 2s but I am feeling exceedingly tired and wrung-out at the moment. Didn't drink enough today I think because I feel Even More Paranoid Than Usual about life. (Everything is always my fault and it's really not paranoia when everyone always blames you for everything).

Tomorrow I'm meeting Claire in LaPool to go the flicks and have a bit of craic. I'm tempted to introduce her to New!Quiggins, but it does rather pale in comparison to Old!Quiggins so am undecided. It's still cute, but it just isn't that teenage haven so adored. BONUS of this trip is that I miss the team meeting, which considering my current "EVERYONEHATESMEANDISOUTTOGETMEANDITISALWAYSMYFAULT" mood this is most definitely a Godsend.
Mum has pointed out however that I can't take Claire to Maggie Mays and indulge in their magnificent fry ups myself, as it is a Friday. Being a Catholic has never been so bloody hard! (Not feeling well-inclined at the moment what with the new move to LOWER the age of confirmation, when if anything I always thought it should be higher- I certainly wasn't ready when I was fifteen and damned if I was when I was TEN.)

Knackered and grumpy now so going off to grump in a corner at the world until either things improve or I can reasonable go to bed and be warm again!!
