Because RL is over-rated I feel inclined instead to talk about films. I have watched several of late (one twice) and over the same period of time have failed to read more than one book (although in my defence, I have been reading a ton of academic bits and pieces and articles. Just not a full book.)

So first things first let’s talk about The Muppets (2012 Bobin). Note I am saying 2012 not 2011, this is because for some Unknown and Eminently Stupid reason although the film was released in America in November, around Thanksgiving time it was not as one would expect released in the UK ready for Christmas. No. Instead they sat on it until February 2012 which is patently unfair and although I didn’t jump to acquire a pirate copy and waited like a good little boy for it to come out on the pictures I am sure that this kind of rotten behaviour on the part of whoever was doing international releases has undoubtedly contributed to any piracy issues (and there always are some). And it’s their own fault if people bloody did do it.

Anyway I can say this because I didn’t and was waited. Clairey and I had made arrangements well in advance to meet up and I hadn’t seen her since last winter in London so we went to FACT in Liverpool for the matinee showing on the first day. Later I went to Cineworld in the shopping shitty after my weekend job with my Mum as I knew she’d like it.

Cut in case of SPOILERS )

Next I went to see The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012 Madden). THAR BE SPOILERS UNDER THIS CUT )

I am so buying it.

Today I went to see Woman in Black. It has taken me some time to work out towards seeing it.

CUT FOR BABBLE )

In conclusion however out of the three Woman in Black comes off the worst, despite being reasonably good. It probably isn’t its fault and it quite good for what it is. But out of it and Marigold Hotel, Marigold Hotel is just made of awesome shininess and I would buy it, and I would not be too bothered about watching Woman in Black again. It was okay, and worth the money I paid to see it, but Marigold just outclasses it. ( I’m not really counting the Muppets in my comparison here because the Muppets work on their own level that makes it hard to compare to non-kids films. )

Films coming out soon I want to see:
Mirror Mirror (Singh 2012)
Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists! (Lord 2012)
We Bought a Zoo (Crowe 2012)
In Darkness (Holland 2012)

Don’t know if I’ll managed them all, particularly the last one as there is also a high chance that- being a subtitled film- it won’t reach this corner of the north. But I am continuing my resolve to watch more, especially know I have a cinema in THE SAME TOWN (and therefore Walking Distance) :D!!
