That was A Week, that was
Jun. 1st, 2012 09:43 pmBlooming, bloody, buggerationing hell what a week that has been. Narrating the whole story is somewhere between boring and deadly boring- and I can't anyway because I promised myself I would be careful and not bore everyone with work for ever and ever and ever on here- but basically Various Powers Have Conspired and the result was that on Tuesday I was told that one of our rooms would have to be closed, effective immediately, for repairs to the extremely high and weirdly shaped roof.
Sounds simple?
Hmmno. Because it is 1. The biggest room we have IN THE WHOLE PLACE EVER 2. Booked up pretty much every single day until the end of December. 3. My Boss and my Bosses Boss are both on annual leave.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
SO I have now cancelled, rearranged, rebooked or otherwise shifted about everything I can. Chaos everywhere, combined departmental meetings and audits cancelled because there's no where else on site to seat 100 people etc etc.
The only one of our lectures we couldn't cancel and rearrange for next term was todays. Because the call was made on Tuesday mid afternoon and not only had the advert gone out but the same Powers That Govern had made the session mandatory for certain grades. Cue me and everyone in the office frantically rearranging the dining room to seat as many as we could as well as set up suitable projection capabilities and pulling out all the old bits of tech we don't use anymore because we have magical things like Ceiling Mounted Projectors with cables INSIDE the wall. And of course we had an astonishing number attending, despite our efforts we managed seats for about 50 and, I haven't counted yet, but I would reckon we had nearer to 80 people cramming into that room.
And the session overran
And we had another event in the Dining Room to say goodbye to the 4th Years booked for 2pm so then only had about twenty minutes to rearrange the room AGAIN, clear up all the debris from the lunch, put out the cakes, put up the balloons and things and then run around like mad again.
I forgot lunch. Ate one of the leftover creamcaks and then felt violently ill from the sugar rush and fled about twenty past five going I KNOW I STILL HAVE PILES TO DO BUT SODDIT. (And I do have piles. Since Tuesday I have been ringing, cancelling, rearranging, calming, placating, being shouted at, having people be disappointed at and generally apologising for circumstances beyond my control ruining a thousand study days. I have therefore not completed any of my end of month reports, letters, certificates etc. They are all SITTING THERE looking at me)
But now, now Very Now we have a LONG WEEKEND.
Rule Brittania etc. I'm working at the library tomorrow (yay!) and then I am free free free free freeee and don't have to go to work till Wednesday. I watched Iron Man yesterday. I have Captain America sitting waiting for me to watch it (possibly tomorrow) and may possibly have ordered some more superhero marvel dvds. Maybe. Oh okay just two more (Iron Man 2 and Thor)
