The Hovel Strikes Again
May. 7th, 2012 02:18 pmSorry have been a knob lately.
The hovel has struck again although thankfully it waited to do so until I had sent off my essays so that's something to be gratefl for. The big circular light which is the only light that illuminates my nest under the stairs has gone wonky- starter motor they thing- and a replacement circular bulb cannot be found for love nor money. Trawled around this morning to B&Q, Argos, the usual suspects etc to try and find something to replace it but Mum did no like any of the replacements, and the only one I really saw is almost identical to what we already have, which Mum balks at the idea of me spending that money on something that we already have just because we can't get a replacement bulb. So for another day I am relegated to the laptop in the living room. Mum is sitting next to me shredding paper and listening to the Archers at the same time. Most disconcerting indeed, althoug at least that fact that we're going to be unsufferably on top of one another unless the situation is rectified might encourage less dragging-of-heels than there is usually (the rest of the hovel continues to be stubbornly hovellish, although I did fill the bin and take two more boxes of Stuff to the charity shop. What is now needed is a major tip-run. Easier said than done as it is currently pouring down.
Ah well. Am going to make a drink, get something to balance this bloody laptop on (hate laptops haaaaate) and then sit and read Avengers fic until I run out. (Also any recs gratefully appreciated, I like all of them angst h/c always a favourite, just saying- particularly as weirdly enough haven't found the obligatory AIDs fic- every fandom usually has these, they are heartbreaking - haven't even found to obligatory Legacy Virus fic (considering it is Marvel) which as the 1st edition of the new Ultimate Hawkeye which I...may have acquired... has indications leaning towards the legacy virus you would think that someone out there would be in the mood to give me that kind of torment?
